LitShelf Book Clubs

Read together. Without the thread.

One page for what your club is reading, when you're meeting, and what you'll vote on next — so the WhatsApp thread can finally rest.

How a club runs

Three things, on the same page.

I

Start a club

Name it, invite up to five friends by email or link. They join with a free LitShelf account — no app required.

II

Pick a book

Pick the first read yourself, or open it to a vote. Set the meeting date the same day so the calendar isn't a separate fight.

III

Show up

RSVP — including "coming, but not finished." Talk. The shelf remembers what you read together, year after year.

What's in it

Built for how clubs actually work.

I

A book hub, not another thread

The current book, the next meeting, who's coming, how long until you should start the last chapter — all on one page that lives at one URL.

II

Pick what's next — by vote, or by you

Owners can pick directly, or open it to a nomination round. Anyone in the club can nominate. The poll closes itself.

III

RSVP that respects unfinished readers

Yes · coming-but-not-finished · maybe · no. Nobody gets shamed for being on page 220 of 480. Half-chair counts.

IV

A shelf that fills as you finish

Every book you read together lands on a public history shelf, year by year. The 3-year-old club looks like a 3-year-old club.

A closer look

From the first invite to the third year.

The reading room

Everything in one place — book, meeting, people.

Every club gets a page like this. The book you're on, where you are in it, when you're meeting next, who's coming, and the open vote for what's next — together, not scattered across six tabs.

  • Pace strip — "day 6 of 24 · ~23 pp/day"
  • Self-paced by default. Nobody is forced to share progress.

Nominate and vote on the next book
The next book

Pick by vote, or pick yourself.

Anyone in the club can nominate. Everyone votes. Polls close on schedule, so "we never decided what to read next" stops happening. Already read together? The book gets greyed out before it's even nominated.

  • One vote per reader, change it until the poll closes.
  • Auto-closes at the deadline; winner becomes the next book.
  • Owners can override — pick a book and skip the round.
The shelf you build

A record you can hold, three years in.

Every finished book lines up on a shared shelf — oldest to newest, covers and all. Comes with the obvious numbers (32 books · 3 years · 12 readers · 97% showed up) and the obvious feeling: this is what we've done together.

  • Group by year, or scroll the spine view.
  • Public link so new members can see what they're joining.
  • Yours forever, even if you downgrade.
